A braided natural jute rug with a scalloped cream border, half-round in shape and finished entirely by hand.

Contour is built the way rope is built: long jute cords braided, then coiled into a spiral and stitched flat, ring by ring, until the shape emerges. It’s a slower, entirely handmade process, and it shows in the slight irregularity of each coil — no two rugs braid up exactly alike.
The scalloped cotton border is the one departure from raw jute, a soft edge against the coarser natural fibre underfoot. Left undyed, the rug ages toward a warmer gold with light and wear rather than fading — it’s meant to look better a year in than it does on delivery.
